This isn't anything I have experienced; have you had a bowel movement lately?  Have you been eating differently?  If I were you, I think maybe I'd try to add more water in my daily intake and try a daily walk or two.  If you are constipated, this may help.

Hi fmfdoc,

I have, from time to time, experienced rectal achiness and it usually just goes away on its own.  Many of my aches and pains are caused by bad posture or sitting for long periods of time...could be similar for you.  I have also had achiness if I strain to hard on the toilet.  Your doctor doesn't seem too concerned so perhaps just wait and see what happens.

Hope you feel better soon!

Is the pain brought on by BM? Fissures can cause pain and aching for quite a while after a BM. They don't always cause bleeding either.

I have this going on right now too!! I also can't feel any hemorrhoids and anything else, just a sore bottom, yet I can't pinpoint where the pain is coming from. I have found, that if I put a little desitin on the area, after every bowel movement it does help, and the pain is becoming less frequent. Hope you feel better soon!! Rectal pain is a pain in the butt! :-P

My bowel movements are a little off because I am taking a stool softner and Metamucil. Plus I cut back on all the big Carbs. It started about 5 days ago. Its CONSTANT though and not just after a bowel movement. The bowel movements are not that bad. If I can described it its like a Dull Ached ALL THE TIME. It feel like I just got done riding a bike for a long time. It feels like the rectum and anal area is full, like swollen. I can feel it when I stand up too. My PCM provider said if it wasn't better by next week, he would put in a consult to Gastro. This is really starting to work my Anxiety to the max, because it bothersome and I worry about the Big "C", even though I heard it usually don't hit people in that area till after 40 or 50 and Im 32. I used suppositories, Ibuprofen ect to no avail. Its just hard concentrating because of the ache, so Im constantly feeling it
