Partners upcoming endoscopy
« on: January 24, 2014, 01:07:49 PM »
My partner has an endoscopy coming up on Feb 20. I, like always when she has a scheduled procedure have a LOT of anxiety about it. I have more anxiety than she does and she's the one going through it. My biggest fear is a reaction during the procedure, like a reaction to the sedative(s) because she has had a reaction to Demeral. Her Gastro said they don't use Demerol but I'm worried about whatever they use.

Docs usually take a full hx before administering any sort of anesthesia (I scheduled surgeries for the Dept of Anesthesiology in a big city hospital for many years).  I'm sure your partner will be fine, but in the unlikely event there was a reaction, they're prepared to handle it.  You're both in my prayers, please let us know how it goes!

I have had a total of 8 Endoscopy's as I had an esophageal ulcer in June 2005. My most recent
EGD was April 1, 2013. They are a piece of cake and they used I believe Profolol. I have never
had any issues with the sedation of the procedure and have actually driven later that day (not supposed to).

Thanks for your responses. I know I am probably worrying for no reason and everything should go fine. She had anesthesia before and was fine so I'm sure she will be with a sedative also.
