Sore lump in forearm, cause for concern?
« on: January 22, 2014, 05:14:46 AM »
I was at my girlfriend's house Sunday when all of a sudden I noticed my forearm was a bit sore, no visible redness or swelling of any kind but sensitive to the touch. After rubbing it though I can feel that there was a lump in my forearm...feels like a knot, a bit bigger than pea sized. Im trying not to freak out but I can't remember doing anything that would have caused this. Is this normal?

A lump in the forearm can have lots of BENIGN causes. Maybe you bumped it and didn't realize it or maybe it's just a lipoma. Most of us are pretty lumpy but us HA folks always see a lump as an ominous sign, when most of the time, a lump is just a lump.

If it's a bit sore chances are it's a tight muscle or a small knot. I have had a tumor (upper shoulder) and it got bigger very quickly and wasn't painful at all. The only symptom it had was growing quickly and it was itchy. Not a normal itch either, the kind of itch that you could only get to if you felt like stabbing yourself with a pen :) try some muscle rub and alternate warm and cold on it, massaging it helps too

I dont know, Im still a bit concerned. The pain has went away but it hasnt really gone down, its a bit hard now and not really movable from what I can feel. Usually if it were a muscle thing it'd be gone by now right? The same case as if I had hit it or something too Im guessing. It hasnt really gone down at all. The area looks a bit raised now in the light and it only hurts when I feel around on it....

I would give it a little time. If it does not get better, than I would consult a physician.
