Colonoscopy prep/ terrified. HELP
« on: January 20, 2014, 04:26:24 PM »
I had a flex sig done about 6 weeks ago. Tiny polyp was found so I was booked for a colonoscopy to remove it and check for more. I am terrified today. My prep starts tomorrow. I feel like I have legit colon cancer symptoms.  Feelings of never emptying my bowel. Sometimes narrow stool. Weird blobby loose stool and CONSTANT gurgles in my bowel. Especially during and directly after eating and when I lay on my back it's so much worse.

I will be taking peglyte for my prep. The instructions say if there is a chance of obstruction then don't take it and talk to doctor. I am afraid I have a tumor. I'm scared into a state of terror that I will bleed or be in horrible pain or this will cause a back up because of something in my Colon. I have sever butterfliees. I feel weak with anxiety and my heart is racing. Please help me

I had a colonoscopy on December 27, 2013 and I took Osmoprep, which are pills. Osmoprep listed
many side affects, but I figured the odds were on my side that nothing would happen and it did not.
I took 16 of the 20 pills in the evening and none of the four in the morning, as I had so many bouts of
diarrhea, that I was all clear. (I probably had 10 or more bouts) Keep hydrated and you will be fine.
This was my 5th or 6th colonoscopy and I have never had any issues with the prep or the sedation.
The sedation is better now and wears off quicker. Good luck and you will be fine.

I haven't heard of that prep. I did the miralax + pills (twice). Just keep taking it until your poop is clear. I'm sure you're fine, I had much much worse symptoms than you and it wasn't cancer. As they say, the prep is the worst part. The drugs are wonderful! Best of luck.
