cant get horror character out of head
« on: January 15, 2014, 04:42:37 AM »
I cant get Freddy Kruegar out of my head! I know he is not real and I have looked at him and the actor who played him.  I used to watch alot of horror films as a teenager (38 now).  Everytime I get a bad episode of anxiety and depression this happens. I feel it is going to drive me mad! Any help please? x

Try watching some other types of films. By watching a film you are feeding the subconscious mind. Freddy sits there. He might have been one that frightened you the most. So no more horror films. A comedy. Look for new character in a series of funny films and replace Freddy with this new image. Like taken one person out of the subconscious mind and putting a new person in.

Overload your mind with images of somebody you do like. Pick a favourite movie star. Get loads of pictures of him. The Freddy thing is similar to a person having a fear of clowns. Might have been something they saw years ago. They didn't like and the image stuck with them. Though he is my favourite horror character of all time. But he is not in my head. Anybody you like. Overload that mind and replace Freddy.

Its all to do with feeling trapped.....it affects other parts of my life.  I worry that this Freddy Kruegar thing will send me mad and I will feel like I cant live with it. If I hear the name Freddy I freak out...silly I know x

So tell us more then. Is Freddy linked to a certain time in your life when things got bad for you. Thus he is the, sort of memory, you have from when things began to go bad for you? All of us who remember when things began to bad associate that time with something. Could be an object. Could be a person. Fictional or real. Just trying to understand the connection between Freddy and you been trapped.

I was going through a really bad episode of depression etc and I just couldnt get him out of my head.   Maybe feelg of having something trapped in head is when i was 16 i stupidly took a lsd trip not knowing about drug and had a really bad trip.  First time i really felt intense anxiety.
