A question about water.
« on: January 10, 2014, 01:43:50 PM »
A few days ago one of the pipes in our kitchen froze, it was thawed out within the next day and we used the sink to wash dishes. This motioning it popped into my head that maybe to water wasn't safe and I shouldn't be eating off those dishes. So does anyone know if it is ok to use water after a pipe has been frozen and then thawed out? My dad said it was but being a hypochondriac I am still worried. I do know that our city wasn't under a boil order and that it did not burst, at least I don't think it did.

You're fine.  Nothing happens to the water when it freezes in the pipe that's any different from you taking that same water and making ice in your freezer.

Cool, so would I know if the pipe had bust? I know nothing about this kinda thing, and was told my only worry would be if the pipe had bust? I was told that if it had bust in the house I would have a mess on my hands and that my water pressure would be weird, and same for outside the house.

You would know if a pipe burst.  Everything below it would be wet and you would hear water running.
