Getting a CBC in a few hours and I am a complete wreck!
« on: January 03, 2014, 08:36:15 PM »
Could somebody please offer me some assurance and hope during this time? :(

Basically, I've been concerned about weight loss and now some mild fatigue and low grade fever that comes and go (it's been almost a week already).

Now I have decided to go to the doctor and I am sure she will order a blood test to rule anything out (if not, I will have the blood test requested!).

I am just so scared that the results will come back with numbers that are way off the scale! Something that will warrant further testing because of the big C!

It's my first time to have a CBC in 2 years and I am really scared! :(

I'm sure you will be fine.

I was the same about a week ago, doctor ordered a cbc and I was so scared my bloodwork would show something! Well the nurse had called me last week and I asked about the results and she said the doctor would talk to me when I go in the following week because my wbc was slighltly elevated. I spent those waiting days in a panic and was so scared.

When I seen the doctor this Thursday in person she said it was barely elevated and not to worry since the differentials were fine.

I basically went to the worst possible scenario and worked myself up because I knew in my heart I had cancer. So even though our HA mind likes to tell us something is wrong. 99.9% of the time it is wrong and we don't have deadly diseases. Be strong and you will be fine.

Thank you everyone for the positive thoughts. You are all helping me get through this difficult time!

Amy, i hope yours will be ok too!

Results will be receiced within the day.

Should I look at my results once I receive it or should I go straight to my doctor who is waiting for me? I feel that i am gonna overanalyze the results once I have it!!!

So scared still..

I've been through this many times - every time I worry. But every time it has been fine. When I first started getting panic attacks I was so sure there would be an issue but it was fine. Hang in there - look forward to hearing your results as I'm sure you'll be fine as well! :)

Wow guys results are back and I cannot believe that every item on it was normal!!! The doctor was impressed!

She gave me a looong session on managing my anxiety and it was really great. I love her!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts!

Does this mean I can put to rest my lymphoma and leukemia fears for now?

It's like my doctor told me last time I was in there:  "If there is something wrong, we will have you in here ASAP."  So no news, is good news is the proper way to respond to this.

Thanks craven and threnners. So sorry for the late reply.

Ack, just when I thought I was over this, some people I met recently told me that I lost weight again. Sigh, it just never stops.

I thought I was able to handle it by myself by thinking "Blood test is normal and you feel fine, no worries" but I was wrong. :(

is this my HA putting me down again? :(

Stress and anxiety can result in weight loss. It could be a result of not eating as much, not absorbing nutrients as effectively due to the stress and anxiety, probably other reasons I'm not aware of. Also, don't hold so much weight (ha, see what I did there?) on the comment by others. It's their opinion, not necessarily fact. You already got good feedback from the results and your doctor, you were feeling better, and then, bam, a comment has you worrying. Trust me, I know it's hard to think positive when HA acts up. Hope you feel better.  :happy0151:

P.S. Has anyone noticed that they can be feeling really bad - pains, anxiety and whatnot - and then coming on here and reading or posting comments, that they feel better? I was in a bad way before I made this reply and now I feel a little better. Thank you burgundy.

Hi Dje,

Thank you for your reply. I am still trying to absorb how anxiety can indeed cause weight loss. Well, I did try to lose weight a bit before, but the succeeding weight loss just scares the hell out of me! :angry-smiley-034: I know it takes a lot of work to overcome this, and I just hope I can manage well this year.

By the way, being here in AZ boards does make me feel better like you said. I know I might sound stupid for giving advice to others that I cannot just follow, but the fact that I am also able to help other people with similar issues makes me feel better indeed.

I just hope we can find the light at the end of the tunnel.
