Again, brain tumor or MS fears because of vision!! Help.
« on: December 31, 2013, 08:46:20 AM »
So my anxiety is up again this morning with a brain tumor fear or maybe MS, well between the two.

First of all I had LASIK a few months ago so I see 20/15.

-I've seen floaters ever since my pregnancy last year and eye doctor says they're normal. But I always see this hair strand kind on the right side.

Ok here's what scares me.. When my alarm goes off early in the morning when I'm still asleep, I get up to press snooze but still tired my eyes won't focus right so it looks like I'm seeing double words on my phone until my eyes focus then it turns back to normal. Takes about a few seconds for my eyes to focus if they're tired.

Sounds normal or serious?? Or should I just get a brain MRI to be done with it?? I'm scared of the results though and going in the tube.

This new year I plan on seeing a counselor.

I have had floaters in both eyes for years and have always been told they are totally normal and once your brain gets used to them you won't notice them as much.

As for the focusing thing, sounds like it's because you've just woken up and your eyes are adjusting. I wouldn't worry about it!

With MS, or a Brain Tumor you are talking about pressure either on the optic nerve, or demyelination of the optic nerve. Both of these will resort in a situation that lasts for a long time and will be serious. Few seconds is not even on the radar. Remember if it was a tumor it would be pushing on that nerve non stop and the vision would not let up. If it was MS you would have issues like serious blind spots, or blurry vision, or muted colors and double vision. The double vision would last for a serious amount of time and could take months to start to recover from the attack. What you are describing in no way is either of those. I think it is your eyes adjusting and floaters is NOT a symptom of MS. Everyone on earth has them. So you can let this fear go to the grave where it belongs. Happy New Year!

I just had surgery because of a brain tumor. I started posting here in November about my bad vision I my left eye. They did see optic nerve swelling. The tumor is benign but was pushing on my optic nerve. When I see with this eye everything seems darker ( and it doesn't improve.
They couldn't  take it all out so I am going to radiation treatment to shrink it. The goal is to preserve the vision I have left. In case you have questions let me know.
I was just glad it's not cancer since I suffer under cancer phobia.

Hasenfuss,

Thanks for replying and I'm happy that you are doing better.

I've just had anxiety about my eyes since I noticed floaters but had it checked many times also before LASIK but everything is fine.
