Abdominal Aneuryism?
« on: December 21, 2013, 02:57:54 AM »
Another week another worry. My stomach has been hurting all day from what feels like gas or indigestion. I have been burping a pretty good bit which provides some relief but that is it. I can also see my pulse in my stomach more strongly than usual. I googled this ( yeah bad idea) and it said the abdominal aorta can balloon out when it is about to rupture, causing a more visible pulse. I am now officially freaking out. Shaking uncontrollably, elevated pulse, and I can't calm down.

Please someone tell me I am being ridiculous.

You are being ridiculous! (You wanted someone to say it!)

I have a medical background - I can tell you that abdominal aneuryisms are generally seen in people over 60 years old, who have other conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, smoking, etc.

An aneuryism that ruptures causes several symptoms besides the "pulsating" you described. I can usually seem my pulse in my abdomen only because there is a major vein there. Gas/Indigestion can cause your stomach to "balloon" or bloat ... I would try a Gas-X or an Acid Reducer to help with the symptoms.

Good luck.

Yeah, I'm only 26 years old, and while my diet isn't anything amazing: I do get a lot of physical exercise from my job. I feel so much better now, thank you for the reassurance and telling me I'm being ridiculous! :)
