Now, i do realize as a fellow hypochondriac, that anything less than a cancer is just not interesting to us, however i am going through a simillar situation so i'll share some of my insights. First of all, an overwhelming majority of cases of unilateral tonsillar hypeptrophy (simply said, one tonsil bigger than the other), and a swollen lymph node in the neck area, are a product of an infection or some other relatively benign cause. I've made the mistake of googling along the lines of, one tonsil bigger than the other, and was very disturbed to read that its associated with cancer but that was before i've seen my doctors who pretty much all said that tonsillar asymetry is not exactly a rare occurence. In addition my ENT's seem to be obsessed with the way the tissue, tonsillar tissue, looks like, size matters none can dispute that but all the ENT's i've been to, which are 3, said that the tissue on both of my tonsils looks healthy, the definition of healthy tonsillar tissue is uneven, the appearance of some crypts, etc. Unhealthy tonsillar tissue apparently is even, i.e. flat and glassy, and strangely i couldn't find this anywhere on google which might mean, just might mean, that Dr. Google along with our somewhat apocalyptic outlook on matters of health is not in position to make diagnosis.
Hope you can put your fears to rest, unfortunately that goal is still eluding me.
