5 days Smoke Free!
« on: December 21, 2013, 12:57:38 AM »
I'm working on this whole quitting smoking thing, using nicotine patches. So far so good!! Anyone have any tips to beat cravings?? Or any success stories to give me a little inspiration?!  :action-smiley-065:

i had experience with nicotine patches, i ddnt smoke for a month when was away on business trip. i felt quite okey as if i never smoked before. but as soon as i returned home the first thing i asked my husband about Do u have a cig?  i hoped he quitted as i did. but he ddnt and of course there was a cig. and all was back very fast. so my advice is if u quitted, never think one day u may smoke a cig and continue without cig after. such tricks do not work with smoke quitting.

Hi Kendra!

Congratulations on making the decision to quit smoking!  I am now a non-smoker as well (3 years actually) and what I did each time I had a craving was talk to myself saying "what are you thinking, you are non-smoker and don't smoke"! And if you've made it to day five, don't get tempted to have one!!  Soon you will be convinced that you no longer smoke and start feeling the benefits!!  Great job!!!!

Thanks Kindra.....you'll notice your body doing a few weird things as you quit, but soon, very soon, you'll begin to feel the positives!!  One of those is actually realizing that your food has a great taste!  If you enjoyed food before, you'll notice a wonderful difference in how good it really tastes when you don't smoke!  Make sure as you are quitting that you get plenty of exercise....try walking!  It's a great distraction and is good on the lungs.  Don't forget too, that for each time you WOULD have bought cigs, put that money in a jar and within a certain time frame, (a week, two weeks, whatever timeframe you decide) take that money and treat yourself to something!!!  This is now 'free' money that you would have normally wasted on cigs, so go spend it on something to reward yourself!!

I love food so I'm definitely looking forward to that change!! I've been jumping on the treadmill every day for at least half an hour and I noticed it makes me hack up some pretty disgusting stuff  :sick0002: that is a great idea about "free" money! Never would have thought of that! Thank you for your support and awesome ideas!! :winking0008:

As of 6 minutes ago I am officially 7 days smoke free!! I no to most this isn't a huge deal but for me it is. I have never made it passed day 2 without anxiety winning and me saying screw it and lighting up again. I'm excited that the quit just might be real this time!!  :action-smiley-065:

honestly i would recommend buying an e-cigarette. it will lower your chance of relapse by a ton. unfortunately i was 1 year and 176 days cigarette free until i had a huge mental breakdown and have smoked a cigarette atleast once a day since it first happened. but luckily i don't have a huge craving for them. cigarettes are the devil.
