An unexpected anxiety reducer for me
« on: December 02, 2013, 08:40:45 AM »
So, as I've mentioned previously, I am a medical professional. A family practice physician assistant.  I've been a little lax recently with keeping up on my medical reading. Last night while washing dishes I listened to a cardiovascular lecture on my iPod to start catching up.  I had been feeling tense, not terribly so, but which hadn't been alleviated by a recent meditation session.

Well, I was so focused on listening to my medical lecture carefully, that it really helped the anxiety subside!! My goal is to listen to about two lectures per week. Additionally, just getting more grounded in recent medical updates I feel will give me more confidence ***** work, which can hopefully help my anxiety on a longer term basis.

Want to say that meditation is big for me though whatever works is always good. Have been at it a long time. Even go to a meditation class to sit with others, which can be very pleasant. The teacher lights a candle and brings fragrant oils.

But the benefits of meditation accrue over time. Sometimes the effects are instant, but not always. If we are patient and consistent it can be rewarding. I could no longer imagine my life without it.
