Now my doc wants HIV test and Hepatitis tests

So my gynae sent a report to my doc telling him that he didn't think my night sweats were hormonal so my doc has now done an HIV and Hep B and C tests. I'm terrified. There's no reason why they should come back positive but my HA brain is thinking all kinds of things and worrying that somehow they'll magically come back positive I can't take much more of this.

Your doc is trying to find a reason for your sweating. He can't/won't believe they are hormonal or anxiety so he is telling your regular doctor that you need those tests. I wouldn't worry, and I know easier said than done. He is trying to find some concrete medical reason.

Still think you need another gynecologist.

I second that - change gynos.  Get a second opinion!

Not really sure how to go about getting a second opinion. I'll get the pelvic ultrasound done and see what he says when i go back for that and also tell him about my endless period.

So now my worries are HIV, Hepatitis, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, cervical cancer (though I had a clear pap smear about eight months ago),  brain tumour (as I worry my brain chemistry could be affecting my periods no I've not looked it up so don't even know if this is possible) and the fear of having to take hormones that may give me blood clots and high blood pressure. I'm a wreck, a complete and utter wreck

Is there only one gyne doctor in your area? Can you find out if there is one who is experienced in dealing with menopause? Or, are there women's clinics in your area? Are you still having night sweats? I ask because if your hormones are off it could cause you to have a long period and night sweats. But, getting your period might have balanced things out a little and stopped the night sweating.

oregoncoastlady yes still getting the night sweats, I've been getting them for about five months now so my period hasn't helped at all.

I'm just so scared that the blood tests are going to be positive even though it's virtually impossible for them to be (I've never used drugs and needles and my husband and I were each other's first sexual partner) But it still terrifies me now I've had the tests.

Also I don't know of any other gynaecologists in my area though there may be some. My doctor referred me to this one so I'll see how it goes but I might ask my GP if there's another one nearby if I'm not happy with my next visit.
