I want to get tested for HIV/ HepC, do I just got to a reg. doctor?

Ive decided I want to end this fear of HIV and Hep C. I want to get tested. But how? do I just go to a family doctor and say hey I want to get tested for HIV and Hep  C? how do I go about doing this or who do I go to? Help please? Thanks guys

while you are there, get the doc to do a full routine physical too.  Actually the doc would probably expect that anyway.

you can also go to walk in clinics as well.

my preference is to always have a GP do all the routine and not so routine type things.

Ahhh, this brings back memories of my first ever major bout with anxiety.  Yes, I went to my regular Dr., explained to him that for whatever reason I was convinced I had HIV and that i just needed the test to put it to bed.  Results came back negative of course, but crossed it off my list of worries.

I believe most state health departments do it for free as well-not sure how good your insurance is.  Good luck and hope you feel better!

And like sixpack said, my Dr. also did a full physical at the time.

I had an HIV scare many years ago. I went to a local human services/public health to get tested anonymously. This avoids any trace on your medical records if you test positive. I was fine as you probably are too. The peace of mind was worth the test. It is much cheaper than a hospital as well. Good luck!

i am going to see my doctor tomorow with regards to the same thing. the doctor or a sexual health clinic will help you getting tested. sexual health clinics are usually just walk in and wait your turn. my doctors here in the uk is phone in the morning for appointment. both can help you.

can they pick up problems related to hiv in a normal routine blood test i mean i no they dont test u for it but would related problems show up
