I'm 21, going to be 22 in 2 months.

My father has always worried about our health and money so as I grew up I became like him and became a worrier of money but not of health until a couple of months ago I began to really think about how sick my family is.

Cancer, heart problems, diabetes all of the women in my moms side had some type of cancer in their woman parts and had to get operated on and removed.

Theyre all fine now even my sister might need to get hers removed. (Uterus? I think. my mom is spanish so she told me it in spanish and I wasnt sure what part she was talking about ^^;; eheh)

My anxiety with health has gotten the better of me as of late with my first anxiety attack last night to the point where I actually had to take pills to calm me down. I want to get help and I know I'm going to be okay.

I'm 26 and I was officially diagnosed at 18, but I've shown symptoms of anxiety/OCD since I was about 6 or 7.

I am 62 and was diagnosed a little over a year ago.  Chronic depression and panic/anxiety attacks.  I never know when they are coming - they just start and seem to roll over me.  Both of my daughters are mental health counselors and think this might be coming from a bad marriage (over 20 years) to an alcoholic.  Emotional and mental abuse - it's true - just because you can't see the marks, doesn't mean they aren't there.  I used to be very strong. Do what I had to do to make things happen.  Once I worked 3 jobs.  But in the last couple of years, my (new and wonderfully understanding) husband has had throat cancer (2 years free) and I was diagnosed with some heart problems.  All it takes is one little thing to push me into an attack. It is terrible to live like this, especially when most of the people we are around has no clue what it feels like and how hard it is to control (I have very little luck in controlling it).  Part of my problem is the person (boss) I work with who just wants me to "talk myself out of it".  So easy for them to say.  I am on some meds and see a counselor sometimes once a week, usually everyother week.  It is really hard to have gone through so much in my life and now have to face this.  Does it ever go away?

32 but i think my HA was always there it just went haywire when i was admitted to the ER for shortness of breath/palpitations.

as a child knowing that my family had a history of diabetes and that my cousin had juvenile diabetes made me scared that i might have the same thing & then during my early 20s my dad got a lab that showed elevated FBS, he was given a diet to follow and for some crazy reason i secretly followed his diet even if nothing was wrong with me. ;*)

I am 47 and was diagnosed in 1997 with GAD and OCD.  It was a very dark time in my life. I was 30 and my career was moving well. My wife is/was a housewife and our two girls were 2 and 4 at the time.  I saw my Grand dad die and we were beginning to struggle financially.  It started with insomnia. I went for 2 days without sleeping and went to my boss to tell them something was wrong. I started having panic attacks and was crying at the drop of a hat.  I was taken off work by the doctor and was diagnosed with severe depression, gad and ocd.  They tried many different meds at the time and counseling. I was on zoloft, serzone, lexapro, buspar, xanax and paxil (all at different times until they got the combination right).  I returned to work after being off six weeks.

I should preface this with the fact I had other trials with anxiety prior to 1997 (beginning at about age 19 or 20) but really did not know what was going on.  I remember getting obsessed with stuff like whether my baptism at 16 was valid or not, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, sexual anxiety when I was married at 25, etc. These anxieties and obsessions would go away after a time. I suppose I worked through them somehow.

I have to say that the years of struggling must have culminated in 1997's episode. Although it was a horrible time in my life, I am thankful it happened as I finally knew what was wrong.  I have been on buspar pretty much since that time. I tried going without it for a few years but have come to the conclusion I really need it especially at times when the anxiety rears its head.  I can go for months without any issue and then all of the sudden have a recurrence.

I am 21...and I definitely think it has to do with college stress, relationship stress, finances, and regular entering into adulthood stresses.

I am 24, I've always been a worrier but things have gotten bad in the last 2 years. I suppose you could  put it to life stresses at this age. Moving out, more responsibility at work etc.
