Thanks for the tip about Tolle's new book.  I'll find a copy.

j

ps  and, yes, The Power of Now was pretty dense.  I guess I was in the right mood at the time and it followed pretty well after I had just finished the other two I mentioned.

I have gotten a lot of help from Loving What Is by Byron Katie, The Presence Process by Michael Brown, and The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.

I have not heard about that book by Michael Brown before but I'm gonna look into it. I like the title :)
Thanks.

Feeling Good

Laws Of Attraction by Sandra Anne Taylor

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Depak Chopra (but it's kind of "out there" with no proof behind some of the things.  It's saying to trust Nature.... if you believe in God you could substitute God and it would be a helpful book.  If you don't, then I'm not sure how you can "trust" nature)

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz (I think that was kinda out there too, I forget...)

If you're Christian there are a lot of books.  And also more than ANYTHING what got me happy again was watching sermons on tv by Joel Osteen.  You could go to joelosteen.com to check it out or watch it on tv.  Honestly it is more helpful than anything else I have done by far.  It would help non-Christians also becuase it's not him preaching constantly, it's basically CBT in a sermon.  He just backs it up with Biblical references about how people are "supposed" to let themselves feel good and other such things.  Bottom line is if you're not Christian you still could get something out of it, but if you are Christian it is much more powerful because you have someone to trust and more reason to "let go" and let things happen and understand they will be good.  It's nothing like a normal church service.  Everything he teaches is CBT related, but of course everything CBT related does have its origins from the Bible rather non-Christians want to admit it or not.  The Bible talked about not worrying, not feeling guilty, and thinking properly.  You just have to know where in it they are said.

I love Joel Osteen.  I keep a few of his shows/sermons in my DVR for when I can't sleep.  He is a wonderful speaker, very motivating and uplifting.  He always seems to say the right things!

I know.  When I feel really bad I usually turn on one of his shows/sermons.  :)  I ahve a dvd recorder and did keep thme on my hard drive, but since I needed to free up space I burnt them on to discs now.  So long story short... I pretty much do the same thing.  Like you said, he knows how to say just the right thing.  Very rare that I don't get something out of one of the shows.

When I burnt them on discs I titled them to have some idea what each one is about so in the future if I have some certain issue I can more quickly find a relevant show.  lol

Osteen is the best! He's been such a help for my anxiety. I keep his podcasts available for when I need a lift. Just that shift to listening to him can really turn around something negative.

Has anyone read Scott Stossel's new book, "My Age of Anxiety?" (I blogged about it recently at http://www.everylastbreath.com/2014/01/surviving-anxiety.html
--love that dude!) It's a bit technical and history heavy (on history of anxiety) but he puts in his own stories too, which are amazing.
