Sore & Tender Spot in Right Chest Wall Non-heart Issue
« on: June 29, 2013, 07:15:03 PM »
What could this be!?

I was randomly feeling my chest/pectoral area - on the RIGHT side, and I felt this very sudden sharp, tender, sore spot in my chest wall. It's not close to the sternum, so I wasn't thinking costochondritis.  It is a very specific spot that hurts with sharp pain when pressed with a finger. Then it almost feels hot too. Now that I've pressed on it, there is mild lingering pain.

Could it be a strained muscle, compressed nerve, sore lymph node, or maybe a fibromyalgia symptom?  I don't see or feel anything, marks, lumps or bumps, but it feels like a really tender bruise.

I have fibromyalgia.
I have costochondritis.
I went to the doctor with similar symptoms and she claimed that it was costochondritis.
There are trigger points that can cause referred pain too.

Sounds like costal muscle inflammation or just a plain knot in your muscle... I get these a lot!

OK, thanks.

Yes, feels musculoskeletal in nature, or nerve related.  Weird though, almost feels like a bee sting when pressed with a finger - freaked me out a little. But no external/visual symptom.  I do throw the baseball a lot with my kids - not sure if that did it.

I got costochondritis back in February and thought it was breast cancer. It started out as a sharp pain, then turned into a pressure, burning pain. It started on the right side near my sternum... But when it flares up, I can feel it in my back or anywhere I have ribs.

Yeah this was like a burning painful spot too (only when pressed), but more of the upper, middle, pectoral muscle area. Not really close to the middle/sternum.

Could be a pulled muscle... could be costochondritis... my pain wasn't exactly on my sternum... but a little to the right of it (by my nipple)
