Can anxiety cause blurry vision in one eye?
« on: September 22, 2012, 02:24:20 PM »
For the past 2 weeks, I've noticed that every now and then one of my eyes gets kind of blurry. My other eye's normal perfectly fine though. I didn't start getting really bad anxiety until about a month ago, so I'm not sure all what the physical symptoms are. I've been to a doctor a few times for other symptoms, and I appear to be totally healthy. The doctor even checked my vision and did a quick eye exam and said everything looked fine, although I should go to an eye doctor just to have a thorough eye exam and be sure. Could anxiety be the cause of this though?

I think I have the same thing. I got sick with salmonella and it caused me to become very stressed and anxious as it took a while to figure out what was going on, during this time I have noticed that my right eye will have this white blur in the peripheral, almost like an eye floater and it comes and goes. Eyes were checked fully and I was fine, it is a weird sensation no doubt, but isn't anxiety in itself odd? Relax and it goes away in time.

I'm not sure, but I always find myself closing one eye and "testing" the eyesight of my other eye because it seems blurry, but never really is!

That is EXACTLY like me, whenever I close an eye and focus it is gone.

You could have eyestrain and/or dry eyes - harmless, but will cause blurred vision, sometimes on just one side.

It may be eye strain, allergy issues, etc. I would make an appointment with your
Opthamologist, to at least put your mind at ease.

Are you on any medications? Sometimes it can be a side effect.

I'm not on any medication...I'll definitely go to an eye doctor though. Thanks for the replies. (:

Me too, my left eye lately has seemed blurry, but only on half of it, if that makes sense.  I chalk it up to anxiety and don't worry about it.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.  - AnxietyZone member Sixpack
