can stress and anxiety really CAUSE digestive problems?
« on: November 17, 2010, 09:10:40 PM »
like gas, bloating, stomach/pelvic pressure, changes in bowels?  I periodically go thru my fear of ovarian cancer (that my aunt died from at age 50) and I'm in the cycle now.  I recently read that what seem like digestive upsets can be symptoms of this otherwise "silent" disease.  After I read the article I couldn't stop shaking!  I'm now constantly prodding at my sides/pelvic area and recently I've had a lot of stress (HA plus other real stress going on - my little girl's asthma acting up).  I'm periodically bloated and I have TONS of gas (sorry TMI) and sometimes a dull ache on my side.  I'm so afraid of OvC (really cancer is my biggest fear) even tho I've had similar symptoms in the past and discussed them with my GYN.  I even had an ultrasound but that was back in Jan of '09 b/c I was so fearful.  I'm 35 plus I'm on the pill which they say lowers the risk of OvC but I'm having a really hard time now.  :(

yep... It absolutely does.  I recommend a good Probiotic, eat yogurt or drink Kefir every day and it will DEFINITELY help tons!

Usually the digestive system is the very FIRST place that stress and aniety reek havoc on. In my opinion, it's the first and most common place that stress loves to mess with.

Yes for sure. My Dr thought I had IBS and I ended up having Crohn's disease and even my disease gets worse when my anxiety is bad. I actually have both. I swear I gave myself Crohn's from stress and anxiety.

Agreed!  It does really mess with your stomach.  Probiotics do wonders for me!  You had a clean sonogram last year.  Relax!  OVC doesnt appear overnight. ;)

Definitly! I developed IBS around the same time I was diagnosed with GAD. Ever hear the expression " I was so scared I almost sh*t my pants!" LOL :P
