does vitamin B's (B6,B12) increase anxiety?
« on: March 24, 2010, 07:14:31 PM »

           Hi everyone!!!

I been some anxious for the past 3 weeks, just moderate anxiety I would say since I could go to work and drive. Some of the symptoms were heart palpitations, shortness of breath, sweaty hands anyway... I am blaming the vitamins that I was taken to try to help my nervous system I thought, but after that I start feeling little by little too anxious, do you think those vitamins are the ones to blaime?

I am having a "lucid" (anxiety free) moment and it feels great. can wait for those days to come by.

Actually, B vitamins are supposed to help you with your anxiety.  I take a good b-complex vitamin every day, along with a magnesium/calcium/zinc combination that is recommended for reducing anxiety as well.  I have definitely noticed a difference, that along with cutting out caffeine and eating better.  I'd say to keep taking your B vitamins, and add more into the mix as well to help you feel better overall.

Not everyone responds well to B vitamins during anxiety. They can increase anxiety, it just depends on the person.

I tried like General Vitamins and they actually made my body buzzzzz, and I just didn't do well on them.

Rather be on my med.

A good Zinc, Magnesium, and Calcium combo-supplement can also help for relieving anxiety a bit. It's not going to rid you of it completely, but it may help to take some of the edge off over time.

all depends on your body chemistry- b vitamins are great for the brain, but if you can't tolerate them, maybe look into b-rich foods and get them that way? it could be the dyes/fillers they put in that might rreact weirdly to you.

I noticed that the b12 vitamin by itself seemed to make me a little anxious
But the b vitamin complex did not.

Everyone responds differently to different medications or supplements. However, B vitamins are the ones that most use to calm anxiety.
