no one understands
« on: August 25, 2008, 06:19:03 PM »
As I am looking on here I feel like I have every disorder from worry, to looking on the internet, etc.
and the funny thing is, is that I am going to college for my pysch degree and here I am messed up in the head. No one understands what i am feeling, my boss thinks I'm faking it and has no idea what I am going through, and trying to explain this to anyone they either look at you like don't worry about it, or they try to be nice and don't talk to you or is afraid to because they think i should be in a pyscho place.
I almost went into the church today to talk to a father for advice, hows that for being messed up.

Don't worry, I have my Psychology degree and am working on a Masters.  You know what?  The best counselors/psychologists are the ones that have experienced some disorder themselves.  This how they can empathize and truly understand how their patient/client is feeling.  The therapist I have now relates with some of the feelings I'm having because she's dealt with the same feelings.  Don't stress about thinking you have everything you are studying--it's very common.  Nobody is perfect and we all have our idiosyncrasies--only not everybody talks about their fears/anxieties--but they have them.  So don't think you are alone.  As long as you're not running naked down the street or seeing things that aren't there (delusional) then you'll work your problems out, don't worry.  Just don't give up on school.  Good luck!

My anxiety is soo bad I have to go on disbabilty, can't tell you how many attacks I had at work and I had to leave. No one understands, everyone thinks I am a nut job now.
I am still going to continue my schooling, who knows maybe this is for the best.

You do what's best for your health and don't feel guilty for your decision.  It extremely tough to handle work AND school.  Anxiety sufferers don't handle overwhelming stress very well and you must know your limits.  It is the best decision for your mental and physical health.  You can always go back later.

What type of job did you have? I was thinking that that job you had was making you have attacks. that boss you had doesnt sound like a very understanding one but I feel he or she could've made it worse.

I remember when i was living in a group home and i AWOLed over 7 times because of my anxiety disorder.. kind of funny I was less anxious on the streets lol

You have people that understand here, and that's a start.   It certainly doesn't make real-life easier, but please know you aren't alone!
