What the heck is going on with me this time?

Everytime I yawn really big the side of my head hurts, the back of my head hurts next to my ear, and the side of my neck hurts.

I dont get this!

Its really scary because its hard to explain the pain, and where its located.

I have neck problems and tmj problems and both of these can cause the symptoms you are describing. With me its usually tmj that causes the most pain around the ear and side of head.

Obviously if it continues or gets very bad see your Dr.  Does it hurt when you chew as well as yawn??

Could you have pulled the muscle when you were asleep or slept on it wrong? I do that all the time.

In some cases if you can't open your mouth all the way and it hurts to do it that means it is usually TMJ.  Do you have cracking or popping? I would see a TMJ specialist if you haven't already. Hope this helps.

Sounds benign, but any persistent pain should be investigated by a physician.

I get this sometimes. I think it's just TMJD or from grinding / clenching your teeth at night. Lots of times we do it and don't ever realize it until it starts to hurt. Could also be due to wisdom teeth, if you still have them.

I have wisdom teeth that only hurt on one side or the other at a time, too. Also, when I have the symptoms you're describing, it only occurs on one side...so try not to be TOO scared. I'm pretty sure they'll tell you it's just TMJD or similar. The worst they might do is some x-rays.

*hugs*

Let us know how it goes.
