Manic episodes

Does anyone have manic episodes without being diagnosed as bipolar? They happen so rarely but that's what they are, I'm sure....textbook behavior and reactions....

I have.  Once I was told I was bipolar, then not...then Cylothymia, then no just severe anxiety.  I usually have them after long periods of extreme stress.  I am now on meds that cover anxiety and bipolar (seroquel) and seem to be doing well...so I hope it stays that way.

I don't know if it counts as manic or not, but from mid-February to April of this year i was just giddy happy all the time and it was so great! i was having real discussions with people, and going out and about, cracking jokes left and right, making to-do lists and getting everything done and then some. a real change from my normal personality which is slightly tired/down most of the time. and then i can almost pinpoint the day to April 21 somewhere in there, massive panicking and anxiety to the point of not leaving the house. just really sudden and severe. so it was just this HUGE mood shift in a matter of 2 days probably. probably doesn't count as manic, i have a friend who is seriously manic and her mood shifts are way different than what happened to me. but, while i was so happy all the time a little part of me thought, man am i being manic or what?

I have that, one day when the manager at work was gone and I was in charge it was like the switch was turned on and I handled everything perfectly....no anxiety whatsoever that day! Bliss! I felt such confidence and control........

Then I have days where I just feel argumentative and confrontational. It's like I have to pick on people or turn a conversation into a disagreement. Like I have to WIN or COME OUT AHEAD....that's when I talk really fast and seem HYPER to the people around me

So, between those two "behaviors", I'm wondering to what degree I have the manic thing...I don't think it's full-blown bi-polar, but there are days when I REALLY act irrational....

Here is some info on mania  http://www.anxietyzone.com/conditions/mania.html

As it say in here...mania is  not really pleasent.  The adrenalin and severe extreme emotions are excruciating.  Which is why most end up in the ER.

Maybe check out Cyclothymia  http://www.anxietyzone.com/conditions/cyclothymia.html.  This is far less manic but definately has highs and lows.  Not as bad as bipolor, but very similar.

It is always wise to talk to your doctor about the changes and times of changes to your mood.  The more your doctor knows...the better they are able to diagnose you corectly.  If you think you may have another disorder, from what you read, always chech with your doctor first.  There may be something else going on.  Sometimes we even obsess about something we read and that amplifies your anxiety leading to false diagnosis.

The more I read into it, I am pretty sure I am cyclothymic. I have tried to blame it on PMS but I don't think I can, anymore......although there is a twist, I think my attachment to a certain person is causing my cyclothymia, has anyone ever heard of that?
