Clonazepam headaches.
« on: September 04, 2014, 03:36:55 AM »
Does anyone get headaches/ muscle tension in their neck and shoulders that may be causing the headaches from clonazepam? I'm really trying to believe that it's just the medicine, I'm just having a hard time right now.

I have been taking a low dose of clonazepam for almost twenty years and no increased headaches or neck pain.  If anything you are probably tense which is causing the headaches and neck pain and the clonazepam would help ease the tension and improve the pain.  I don't think its from the med just anxiety and muscle tension....get a massage.

I agree with Ivy.  It's our own tensing of muscles and not the med for me.

I would agree with everyone here - I have used klonopin for a couple years daily and switched to diazepam for the last 10+ years.

They are both excellent long half-life Benzodiazepines, which help with anxiety and is also (diazepam- Valium) a great muscle relaxer.

Sometimes, I noticed when I first used klonopin the dosage was too low and my existing anxiety and panic attacks kept causing me to walk the entire day with my body very tensed, especially around my neck and shoulders, which would results in headaches.  As I got to my ideal dose for me on Klonopin, not only did my anxiety go away, but so did my "tension produced" headaches.
