Natural Remedies

More natural remedies:

Try getting these in liquid form if possible, or at least in capsules...the harder the pill the less your body absorbs.

LIQUIDS

magnesium-  helps anxiety, hyper-emotions, fatigue/insomnia, nervous fits, headaches

Calcium-  controls irritability, blocks bile acids from cancer, helps blood to clot, maintains cells

Vitamin B complex-  energy, Reduse breakdown of tryptophan for more SHPS  and serotonin, memory, anxiety and depression

CAPSULES

Ashwagandha-  Mood and memory

Astragalus-  Energy, helps adrenal glands for stress

Chlorella-  Internal cleanse, detoxify, energy, has vitamins and minerals

Alot of things that I have used myself.  the calcium needs to be used with magnesium cause they work together.  You can get the liquid forms at the pharmacy behind the counter without a perscrption, or health food store.

These help me in the summer when my anxiety is less (seasonal anxiety, GAD and panic)  However for me they are not enough the rest of the year.

Maybe some of these will help.
I hope everyone could suffer less by knowing more

Where do you get the liquid magnesium and calcium?  Also, do you know if calcium is a vitamin that you can take in excess amount?  The reason I ask is b/c I drink a lot of milk and pretty regularly eat yogurt.  Can I take calcium as a supplement as well?  I have a bone spur on my spine and I am curious to see if that would be something good for me to take or not.  I have heard that the bone spurs are calcium deposits but I have also read that taking calcium/magnesium is suppose to help with the pain from the bone spur.  Do you know anything about that?  Thanks for you information and time.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I take a daily vitamin (prenatal - not pregnant but am taking it before we start trying) and I take a vitamin b complex vitamin as well....it is in a capsule form.  Have only taken it for a few days but I am hoping it will help with anxiety, my dr. recommended it for that reason.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist.  If you already consume enough calcium you could go with just the magnesium.  Ask what would be a good maintenance dose.  You have to ask your pharmacist for the liquid magnesium.  It is behind the counter but does not need a perscription.  At least it does here??  Just ask, or ask at a health food store.

I took different herbal meds against anxiety. L-theanine worked slightly. KAVA was great for soical anxiety. But not the capsules, they did nothing. only the fresh roots which i ordered through internet. Unforunately, KAVA worked out after two weeks. Don't know how, guess my body didn't accept it. the fresh roots were pretty havy stuff and i it caused stomach pain and my skin got very dry. But fresh kava is great for anxiety. After the heavy reaction my body produced KAVA didn't work anymore.

I also used Flavonmax. Worked great for anxiety and gave me a lot of energy. It contains anti-oxidants, flavonoïds, which have proven their usefulness against anxiety.

things that didn't work:

st.johns woth
passion flower in capsule form

greets

Is magnesium something that you can take while pregnant?  I am not currently but plan to be soon hopefully.  I take prentals and vitamin b complex vitamins already.  Is magnesium something that is normally in vitamins?  Sorry to ask about this again...just need as much info as possible.  Thanks in advance for the help!

The recommended dosage of magnesium in pregnancy is 320 mg per day. You may want 2 check your prenatal vitamins and find out the amount of it in them before u consider another supplement :party0051:

I just looked up my prenatal vitamins online (Primacare One) and it does not contain any magnesium and I am not sure if the calcium was the recommended daily dose either, I do drink milk daily though.  If I take the magnesium supplement in the liquid form, do I need to take calcium supplement as well, in the original post it was said that they need to be taken together.  Arrgghhh!  This is so confusing!  I just want to make sure I am taking what I need to be taking.

Hmm ... dunno about that. I take a cal/mag supplement every day twice a day (for healthy bones) and it doesn't even phase my anxiety. Never heard of that one before. Is there a specific cal/mag supplement you're referring to? Where did you get this information from?

Just stuff I researched.  Remember just like meds...some things work for some people and not others.

Just like ginsing and other herbs should help give you energy and it does nothing for me.  Caffine pills help some people wake up to face the day and this also does nothing for me.

I do not know why some things work for some and not others.  Just putting it out there...maybe something will work for someone.

Hi

In August last year I had my first full blown anxiety attack, at the time I did not realise it was anxiety and though I may be reacting to foods or something in my environment.

I decided to cut our all bad preservatives and additives, especially aspartame and artificial sweeteners. I did all my grocery shopping with a excellent book called the Chemical Maze by Bill Statham …must warn you, with the first few shopping experiences you will be wondering what your going to eat ! I also stay away from the deli meats as these tend to have the most additives and preservatives pumped into them.

Within 2 weeks I felt better I had 3 great months I felt great, with very few symptoms and I had great night sleeps … but then I feel back into old eating habits and I seem to go down hill.

I have just started again and I thought I would share it with you in case it can be of help to anyone else.

I also start my day by making a juice ( you will need a juicer) -

1 apple
1 carrot
6 Brussel sprouts ( not as bad as it sounds)

At night to help me sleep I juice

1 celery stalk
And a hand full of watercress

If anyone gives it a go I would be interested to see how it works for you.

Best of Luck

SJ :action-smiley-065:

Thank you for sharing that. Your post reminded me of something and prompted me to add a reply to this thread...

I've recently switched to the gluten-free diet - which is surprisingly easy. No wheat, rye or barley products; everything else is fine. It's only been two weeks but I'm definitely feeling a difference already.

Just wanted to share this with you all. It's definitely worth a shot. Even if gluten isn't your culprit, the gluten-free diet is a healthy way to minimize "bad" carbs (breads, pasta, etc.) and focus on more healthy carbs (fruits, veggies, rice, potatoes, etc.).

As most of you know, diet has a huge impact on anxiety, and there are many foods that can trigger anxiety symptoms/attacks. I believe gluten is one of them.
