Continued Bulbar ALS fears
« on: September 03, 2014, 06:39:02 AM »
I've been worried about Bulbar ALS for nearly 12 weeks. A month ago I saw a neurologist specializing in things like this, plus an ENT, both of whom said I was fine, but I am still worried. If I had had it for 12 weeks, it would be obvious by now, right? I am afraid it is like slowly creeping in or something.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, as its something I've been coping with for a few months now. If your symptoms are anything like mine, they're just as easily explained by anxiety and reflux. Bulbar als is super rare, it's unrelenting, and from what I've learned, an ENT or a Neurologist can tell very quickly if you have it just by listening to symptoms.

That being said, I get it. It's scary not knowing what's wrong and having this glaring, scary illness starting at you and thinking... wow, my symptoms make sense. Keep up the faith, and consider seeing a therapist. I start today :)

Sari bulbar onset is a very rare subset of a very rare desease. It is extremely aggressive and doesn't creep. You'd know you'd have something very wrong by now after 3 months.
