Oral cancer. Scared to death.
« on: August 31, 2014, 07:04:37 AM »
I am freaking out before 7am. I have had a bad cold so I have been sleeping with my mouth opened which results in a horrible taste and feeling in my mouth. I woke up to brush this morning and after I brushed my tongue I spit blood. I freaked and and looked and saw there was a red raw area like I burnt it but I didn't. Like I for sure didn't it. It also has a numb type feeling which could be due to me sleeping with it opened or because I also used a strong mouth wash. I woke up yesterday and my right jaw was also sore towards the back if I moved my jaw to the opposite side.
I just googled and its not looking good. I'm very scared!

My tounge is also sensitive to coffee and is still numb feeling like I burnt it. I was fine before bed yesterday?
However for about 2 weeks I have felt my tounge was more sensitive to certain strong foods. Oh my I'm really really thinking out now. 27 seems a little young for oral c but that doesn't mean anything to me.
I'm also a non smoker so this isn't smoking related.

Your mouth and tongue are probably dried out from mouth breathing all night.  Nasal spray and Vicks "soothing vapors" wall plug in defeated my nighttime congestion last time I had a cold.  Feel better!

Still freaking out. My tongue is so red and I have increased saliva production. My tounge still has this weird feeling . It's not sore but it's exactly what it feel like if I burnt it. I just don't see how sleeping with my mouth opened could cause this much damage. I do have a very sensitive tounge but I have never experienced anything like this before.
Here is to another completely ruined Sunday :(

why are these things cancer?

lindsay look back on just your recent history of jumping to cancers.  how many times have you been right?

oral cancer is simply the newest disease manifestation of your anxiety disorder

MOST anxiety occurs on a subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state

I'm not a doctor but I had head and neck cancer. What you describe doesn't present like any oral cancer I've ever known. And that's based on my own and the dozens of others I know of through the OC boards. Nope... Everything you describe sounds like side effects from your cold. Yep...Dr Google strikes again!
