what will a scan actually solve?
I am sure your answer will be that it will prove you don't have a brain tumor and you will no longer be anxious and your life will be just fine. You will go on to live a 'normal' life with no more health anxiety.
However that is a load of poo.
One of two things will happen with a scan, 1. you will doubt the scan. it missed it, the doc read it wrong or "Hey ct scans are not perfect. I should have had a contrasted MRI. OMG I NEED an MRI." OR 2. your anxious thinking will move to a new disease fear not covered by the scan. It may be an hour or two days or a week or month or year, but it will happen. There is evidence of this everyday here. Peruse some posts and you will see that it is true. Or post a thread asking how many med tests people have had here and how did it solve their anxiety disorder. **** I will admit there are at least a couple of members here who treat med testing as a valid coping mechanism. They see it as solving the disorder. AND hey, if that is what they want to tell themselves--that they are functioning well--well then more power to them going for test after test and having $$$ med bills****** But ask yourself is that an emotionally healthy way to live???
Getting a scan will not help you. Health anxious just don't get better by reassurance med testing (and that is all that your mind is looking for here. there is ZERO evidence you have a tumor).
Docs are concerned about weight loss because that is a serious thing. However the weight loss, I bet, will ultimately come down to your anxiety disorder.
Peeps don't get better until they work on the actual issue going on.
