EBOLA - Terrified
« on: August 30, 2014, 03:02:09 AM »
I made the mistake of reading a stupid article on ***** about how a lot of universities are taking extra precautions with students returning from West Africa and now I'm super super super paranoid that I've been exposed to it either at school, but more likely on public transportation

I don't know where you live, but I live in Europe, which is way closer to Africa than I'd like... I am also terrified of the ebola virus, but I made the decision to try stop worrying about it, since the worrying won't get me anywhere! We can't get any safer from the virus by worrying, so just stop and enjoy life.
Also, the virus is NOT airborne! It can only spread through bodily fluids (Blood, sperm, vomit, ....).

Unless you're making out with strangers on the bus, they can't give you ebola.  It's not like catching a cold.

Lovely way of putting it! Made me laugh.

But definitely correct. Unless you are bled on, vomited on, or otherwise exposed to bodily fluids from a person in active infection (remember: people are NOT contagious during the incubation period!) then the chance of you becoming infected with ebola is zero, cameronj.

Universities are just being cautious. Worry more about keeping your grades up instead. :P
