Small hard bump on roof of mouth, slightly painful??
« on: August 25, 2014, 06:54:35 PM »
Does anyone else ever get this or know if it's something to worry about?  Occasionally I get this small, hard bump on the roof of my mouth (palate) that hurts when I press my tongue to it.  It's halfway back just to the right of the mid-line.  I actually have another smaller one in the same place but to the left of the mid-line.  It hurts a little too, but not as much.  I think the bumps are always there, but they're usually smaller.  When they hurt, they're a little more swollen, and then they go down and the pain is gone.  They do come and go, and it's never worried me till now for some reason.  I don't remember burning myself or eating anything sharp but I did recently get over a bad cold (if that has anything to do with it).

Does anyone know what this could be or if I have reason to worry about this?  Trying not to.

Sorry I don't know exactly what it is, but I have one of those, too. Same thing happens to me where they get bigger and smaller. I haven't worried too much about it.  Sorry I can't help you a little more!

Thanks, Nelly.  Do they sometimes hurt a little when they're bigger like they've been irritated?

This has to do with your sinus. I get them all the time. It goes away on its own

I get these all the time too. I've been to ENT and regular doctor and even asked a dentist. They all said it was some sort of allergy. I've had them for at least 10 years. It's actually gotten better as I've gotten older. Not sure why though.

Thanks, everyone.  LASD, you said it has to do with your sinus.  I actually just had my ears irrigated a couple days before it happened, and it felt really weird and irritating when they did it so I wonder if this is why since everything in that area is connected.  I do also have allergies on the regular, so maybe that's it.  I hope you're right and that's all it is.

Yes, they do get painful and irritated, almost like I stabbed/scraped the bump with a chip or something. Can be sort of itchy and sore as well.
