Celexa update
« on: August 25, 2014, 11:40:37 AM »
Hi guys. Wanted some opinion with my celexa.

I am on week four and in some aspects I can feel some good being done. However past few days I have felt really numb and not really here. It's very disturbing. Do you think at this stage it would be a side effect that would go? If it was something that would stay I wouldn't want to continue on them.

What do you all think?

Thanks Will

Hi Will...

Week #4 is still very early in treatment with an anti-depressant such as Citalopram.  Also, what dose are you on?  The reason I ask you this is like all ant-depressants, Citalopram (Celexa) has a minimum therapeutic dose, that being 20 mg.  If you are on less than 20 mg, you may not be benefiting much at this time.

I am on Citalopram, have been on it since last November, and it has really helped me.  It did take time to work.  I saw a decrease in depression and intrusive thoughts at about 3 weeks into treatment on a therapeutic dose.  My anxiety didn't really decrease until around week #10.  It takes time to repair our brain, so one must learn patience when dealing with anti-depressant therapy.  I too have had some "numb" days, and days that I didn't really feel I was all here.  These are not unusual, and they shouldn't last.

Even now, I have some off days, but mostly good days, and I am thankful for each one of those.

The very best to you, Will!...  Chuck

Thanks for the reply!

I've been on 20 for four weeks and 10 for an extra week.

It's just this feeling is very strong and completely new. I feel really stupid and I cannot remember much.

Hi Will...

Like Chuck mentioned you are now entering the "therapy zone".

Most of my AD meds seem to start to kick in on week 6-8 and by week 12 I can really feel the difference!

You are making great progress :action-smiley-065:

Thanks guys. So it's nothing to worry about. Even at week four?

No...

You are just now starting to get into the "therapeutic zone" - this is time period - where the chemicals in this medication are designed to start to work!

Hang in there  :grinning-smiley-003:
