any tips on realizing my nodes are okay?
« on: August 23, 2014, 10:04:00 AM »
And stop poking and prodding? The only palpable one I have is around pea size and ovalish (hope this is normal) and I can only feel it in certain positions. Even when I do, it is so movable that it slips away from me. I have to literally grab it or try to at least.
I touched it so much last night that I'm very sore...all doctors and cbcs says I am okay but I can't help myself...
I know if I keep touching them it will be sore :( I just can't stop

Whenever you feel like touching them sit on your hands or stand up and do something like clean things, talk to someone on the phone. anything that'll distract you from touching the lymph nodes that you've been told are completely 100% fine.

Nodes that are malable and soft are hardly ever anything.  I have a pea size one I've had for about 5 years, never gotten any bigger.  You pushing it will make them bigger and sore too.

You need to find something else to distract you.  Go for a walk, read a book, watch you tube videos of kittens, anything.

Nodes only need to be looked at if they start to grow.  And I mean more than just swell from prodding, actually grow.

Well.. I went to the doctor again Cuz I found a tiny sore node and I couldn't tell if it was hard or soft.
He said he's not at all concerned about lymphoma and worst case scenario is a viral infection so he said I can go for blood work but I recently went for that so it doesnt really matter..hr asked about mono but he said again that's worse case scenario.I can barely get a grip on this "new" node so I can't tell exactly. It slips everywhere.
So I'm at 5 doctors and 4 blood tests lol . still I worry...

At some point, continuing to worry is achoice.you got to that point two or three dictors ago. You need to substitute positive thoughts for the negative. Whenever you feel a fear based thought coming on, you need to switch gears. Think something like I'm alive, I'm healthy, there's no way i'm sick. Eventually, your brain will be retrained. But, it takes effort.
