Lupus symptoms! Please help!
« on: August 19, 2014, 11:25:00 PM »
So I have this dry skin/redness on my cheeks and nose. I had it a few years ago but it was in more places on my face, this time it isn't. I'm so worried I have lupus, after reading online it could be a symptom. Or it could be roseacea.
Anyone have this fear?

Or it could just be dry skin. It is summer in the top-half hemisphere, and it is possible you were outside for a bit and got a bit of a tan/burn and now it is peeling. Is that possible?

Lupus causes more symptoms than dry skin on the face. My MIL has SLE.

Dx: GAD, DESNOS, Fibro and other physical issues. Nothing serious, but of course my anxious mind will often find something very serious as with other things in my life. Anxiety is a fraud. Anxiety is not YOU or ME, it is an illness.

No I don't think it's sun related. It gets worse if I put make up on or just moisturizer. If I wash my face and put moisturizer on it gets really bad. Right now I am using a cream that a dr gave me years ago and it has helped a little bit, but it's still there.

The first thought that popped into my head was rosacea.

Did your doctor give you the cream years ago for similar redness? If so, I seriously doubt you would have lupus. You would have MANY MANY more symptoms by now.

i have a friend who has a mixed dx which includes lupus.  she lives her life.  she began teaching after dx.

now are you going to argue that you have lupus based on dry skin on your face?

MOST anxiety occurs on a subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state
