You have pretty good taste in music yourself. You like a wide variety, which is good. Keeps you from becoming the tradition police like some people... Ahem, ahem.   :laugh3: (Not anyone here of course. Don't worry.)
I've heard that first one many times. It actually happens to be the song my mother dedicates to her late uncle who died of cancer in 1998.  It used to scare me when I was a kid. This song would come on the radio, she would get all teary-eyed, and I would desperately start asking a million questions to force it out of her that whoever Miss Vanessa Carlton was singing about wasn't dead, too.
Never heard the second one. For some reason it reminds me a bit of blues. I don't know why. Hmm, I wonder what the man in the video is doing. Looks like it could be something out of my dreams.  :laugh3:
Now, for pop... This is one of the few songs I listen to that is pop. It's really relaxing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWGqoCNbsvM
This next one comes from a group I used to listen to when I was really young, 10 and 11 years old actually. I stopped listening to their music after I found out that they had a sort of religion that I'm not even going to name because it scared me so much. However, I still occasionally listen to 2 of them. Here is one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLJor3m5YT8
I give you the one with the funky Tinkerbell music video, because I'm too scared to look at the group, which is probably in the real video. There you go.

I know the first song. Popular song over this side of the world. Did make the charts. Hear it every so often on the radio. Second ones makes me feel like I am sitting down watching a child's TV show. That sort of song.

Where do I go from here. You know how a song comes along once in a while and you think there is just something about that song. Think this song came about Christmas last. Oddly enough some bloke has done a cover of it since then. But the first version is better because the singer doesn't try to hide her very strong English accent. She leaves it as it is. It actually adds to the song. Is Lily Allen. Somewhere only we know. Not sure if her or Keane wrote it. Keane has another version of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve9cBwI-pAg

I will try you out with some One Republic. Not sure if you ever heard of them before. Bit of a mixture of a band as far as songs go.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hT_nvWreIhg

Will end with a few from one of my favourite bands from Dublin. Republic of Loose. They tend to go with what is popular at the time. If pop is popular they will release a pop song. Hip Hop is popular they will release a Hip Hop song. Perfect song for both of us. Called ' I like Music '.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNBKaPcHFWM

Second song by them is like a good jamming session. They are a big band ( numbers wise ) as a rule. Good band to have on the MP3 player.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcW2u7mu9wU

Going to leave you with the kings of Dublin music. Aslan. This band belong to the people of Dublin. They never made it big. Were just about to when the lead singer had to go to rehab. They got back together and the lead singer then got cancer. He is still alive at the moment. But he is just a normal average Dub. The people of Dublin love him for it. If he ran for President he would win any day of the week. This song is one of the best songs ever recorded. Shame it never made it out of Ireland. Was number 1 here for ages. The video is fun as well. Singer just has a powerful voice.

Somewhere Only We Know is very pretty. It sort of has a depth to it, like there's something more to it we don't know. Don't you think? Seems like it would be from a children's movie, especially because it has those cartoon animals in the video. Is it from a children's movie?
I've heard the one by One Republic on the radio before. I kind of like it. It's energetic.
This one is an odd selection, I think, but I like it. I first heard it on Pandora radio.

Two mighty ones from a piper here in the states.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNzbS4PJrYk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdHRbsfYfQw
And another. Could do without the rock part, but then again it adds a sort of intensity to the music.

From what sounded like a kind of Latin hip hop to the good auld pipes again and some Irish dancing. Some mix indeed. Variety is the spice of life. So allow me to mix it some more. What will he come up with next? As for my first song last time around I am sure it was from a film. No idea which one. Allow me to introduce you to Madness. A fun band from the 80's who have got back together. I will begin with the first song I always sing when asked to sing. Know it inside and out. People thought I would botch up with the part that gets a little bit faster. Never.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXuvdeEC5y8

The second song by them is a cover of an old song. Listen to the lyrics. So amusing. Good song to sing along to as well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlqbt1PQ1ek

They don't do many slow songs as a rule. But this is one. I could listen to this type of music all day long.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qezXWcpKkOY

I want you to hear a song by The Specials. It is from their second album. It is one of those songs that is out of tune in a sense. But on purpose to make the song work. Then I will end the night with my favourite anti racist song. By The Specials again. But a whole new line up in the second song.
First song is ' I can't stand it '. Amazing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6Id5k_fCDw

Final song of my night is one called racist friend. Mellow song. That tells people if they have friends who are racist to say goodbye to them. Hope the new singer doesn't scare you. She looks frightening.  :laugh3: Mind you the other one ain't half bad. Like the dreadlock look in females.

Hmm, sounds like some good party music here. ;-) I've heard the first one before. My mother likes it.
And, oh my goodness! Shame and Scandal is hilarious and it reminds me so much of this song! Don't think it's traditional, but it was written by Buffy St. Marie to sound like a traditional Irish song , I think. This singer is actually one of my favourites. Listen. there's a huge similarity here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q1uOCYKZc8
And luckily that singer doesn't look too scary!  :laugh3: Good voice though.
Here's another by Cat Stevens. The day is always off to a good start when you listen this one at the beginning of the day. So, here's a good morning song for you.  :P

Amazing. Two songs nearly about the same thing. Was a good song. Cat Stevens I just like as a rule. Do listen to him every so often.

We will take you back to Ireland with a song that is about a young Irishman who makes his way to the US. Good story within the song. Is by the Wolfe Tones. Streets of New York.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPaq5tZeXM8

One of favourite songs by the Wolfe Tones. The Foggy Dew. You probably heard it before.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9MRbek0JXk

Leave you with a classic by the Wolfe Tones. The story before the song tells you what actually happened. He was all but dead already. In a hospital bed. They took him from his bed. Tied him to a chair. Executed him.

Streets of New York is great. It's one of those songs you can't just have playing in the background, you've got to sit down and really listen, give it your full attention, here it's story.
Ah, yes, the Foggy Dew. I'm familiar with this one. I actually find it rather catchy. I loved the old photographs in the video. The photo of the Irish men on their way to an English jail really struck me, for some reason.
Last one is very sad, as a lot of tis country's history is. Crazy things that happened in those days. I found some of the YouTube comments a little rude!
Ever heard this version of the Foggy Dew? Again, I could do sans rock, but this version has a lot of energy. But it would be nice with just the other instruments.

The Twelfth of July (Lament for the Children)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfYAoEDHhn0
And on a lighter note...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIPwD9t1cx8
I adore this set (Ladies Cup of Tea/Basket of Oysters/Kerry Lassie) and as you can probably tell, I love the pipes. Fiddle will always be my favourite, though. So here are some lovely 19th century reels for ya.

You certainly love your pipe music. Good version of The Foggy Dew too. Bit quicker. Second song is keeping with Irish tradition. Ancient times a bard would tell a story. That is what our singers do in songs to this day.

You ever hear an Elvis song done out in Tradition Irish style? You are just about to. Band never had many hits at all. Ask anybody and the would only name this one song. Lick The Tins. Can't help fallen in love. Amazing version.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-__OdJ5b6A

Simple Minds. A classic if ever there was one. Belfast Child. Haunting in some ways.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vhhTvcLoRw

Going to leave you with the haka. This is done by Maori Rugby teams before matches. They are calling down dead ancestors to guide them into battle. New Zealand are famous for it.

Interesting version of Can't Help Falling in Love. I like it
I really like Belfast Child. It really is haunting.
I remember seeing the haka once in a movie that was shown to my class at school. My classmates seemed to find it funny, while was pretty interested by it.
And now to add to this variety of music... How could I forget this one? I became obsessed with it a few years ago.

Now something that isn't pipes.  :laugh3: These are some talented young fiddlers.

Probably be of no surprise to you to hear I have a few Native American CDs here. A friend sent me a few. One was the annual tribal Pow Wow. Sort of like a dance off between the tribes. Only with chanting and the likes. It was ruined with some bloke who was the MC for the event talking during the whole thing. The wood flute is a beautiful instrument with an amazing sound. Yes. I do have one here too. Is a shop here were you can buy all these cultural things from the various cultures. That music I always find appealing.

No idea if you ever heard of Enigma? They like to fuse cultural music with chart music. You get these odd mixtures of sounds. It can be relaxing at night. Lights out and their slowest songs on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk_sAHh9s08

Will include a second one by Enigma. We sure like all sorts of music.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KG7Bs_BCC5w

Last band for the night might surprise you. There is something about them that I have always liked. I know people imagine them to be a band that females only love. Their music is good. Always has been. This song just has a summer feel about it.

Never heard of Enigma. Their music sounds almost mystical, I think. Videos are quite a visual, too.
The second one is nice, too. I agree it has a "summer feel".
I'll leave you with these for now.

Do I begin with Father Ted? Whole Eurovision thing. We had won it so many times in a row we simply couldn't afford to host it. So what did we do? We sent the worst song we could find. That actually happened. Father Ted turned into an episode. Is based around fact. Other two songs were nice as well. Easy on the auld ears for a Sunday morning. Now I will add a clip to begin with. Not sure if you saw the sitcom ' one foot in the grave '? Victor. He is one amusing bloke. Sort of dry humour. But one clip I love to share about. Always has me laughing.

Next one is a prank phone call made by a kid. Part of some radio show. Wait until you hear her. This will start your day off with a bit of a laugh.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTAtg7mvbs4

Only two for now. No music this time. Trying something a little different.

I didn't know that episode was based around fact! Ha! I also heard Ireland actually considered using "My Lovely Horse" for the Eurovision contest this year. Should've gone through with it!  :laugh3:
Oh, my. Poor Nippy. I guess I would be pretty disappointed, too, if I found out the dog I was getting was a dead dog.
I've heard this prank call before. Precocious kid! But Becky and I have similarities- I love making prank calls!  :laugh3: I remember once when I was about 6 or 7 years old, my mother took me to work with her. While she was sitting at her desk working, I was in the next room hiding under a vacant desk with her telephone, making prank calls. When I ran out of people to call whose numbers I already knew, I started looking for phone numbers in magazines and in advertisements and calling them. It stopped when I called my mother's friend, who knew it was me and somehow my mother found out because of her and then I was in trouble. Also, I'm notorious for prank calling 1-800-GET-THIN.
Now, hold on, let me look around for something funny to sow you...
Here we go.
This is from the show Keeping Up Appearances. I love this show. It is about a woman who thinks that everyone thinks she is rich, refined, and proper, and goes over the top to show it, but really people find her extremely annoying and her extended family are the equal of "hillbillies", but in England.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3NV2LKeofA
next two are from the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

I love Keeping up Appearances. Always watched it. My mother has it as her favourite sitcom ever. Was always on in this house. I was always a big Only Fools and Horses fan. Have the box set with every episode. As for prank calls. One we used to love to do. Need about five or six people. Simple ring up a number. Same number each time. Every caller says ' will you tell John ' and then add something to tell John. Like the party starts at nine. Next caller would ask to tell John the match tomorrow is called off. Get five of your six to leave messages for John. Then the last caller simply rings up and says ' this is John, are there any messages for me '. By this stage the person on the phone is swearing all sorts at all. But we did once get some old dear who actually gave our John the list of messages. Bless her.

Going to go back to music for a while. Old band at this stage. Cry before Dawn. Never really made it that big. One hit wonder. But a great hit at that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB9DXZessX0

Now we hop over to Scotland. Band called Big Country. Amazing song called Chance.

Oh! That's it. I going to try that prank call! Now, where will I find five or six people that will agree to this?
Really like the first one. It has a good beat.
Chance is great, too.
I love swapping song. This is fun. :-)
Here is another one for you from the book I told you about. The author has a lot of beautiful poetry/songs she wrote incorporated into her books and some fans like to put them to music. This one is called the Lay of Ardina and Ardhor and it is my favourite poem by her. I actually recited it at school for a poetry night we had. Listening to it put to music helped so much in memorising. (I did terribly. I was horribly nervous and when it was my turn I mumbled through it as quickly as I could and people were leaning in trying to hear me.) I know it's long, so you don't have to listen to the whole thing if you don't feel like it.
