NO energy at all...
« on: June 24, 2008, 11:01:19 PM »
It's one thing after another for me... there is always something wrong with me, and if I feel fine one day, then it makes me more anxious because I have forgotten what it feels like to just feel normal. I was convinced I had a brain tumor a few weeks ago. Turned out to be sinus problems. A couple days of sinus medicine cleared it right up. I always feel so stupid when these fears come and go. They always find a way of just disappearing on their own and I don't even realize it until the next symptom comes along. Anyway. I haven't been sleeping well lately. The past couple of days, I've had to go to work earlier than usual. I got off track with my working out, so the past couple of days, I have gotten up extra early to go work out before work. I don't know if it's the lack of sleep, or it's just being lazy over the summer (staying up too late, my sleeping schedule has gotten way off, too much downtime with no school or anything, lots of changes in the weather) or what, but I have had absolutely no energy for the past 2 days now. My leg muscles have felt really sore, and I am just beat. It seems like I'm fine until about 3-5ish in the afternoon, and I just feel so sluggish. The rest of the night, I'm okay, but less energy than usual. I don't know what's going on. I've just felt so worn out. Everything else is fine right now, and I haven't had a fever or anything so I don't think I'm coming down with anything. It's just like I can't get enough sleep. I feel so exhausted in the afternoon and then I lay down at night and can't sleep. My mind is always racing, and I can't ever seem to stop worrying that something is wrong with me. What do you guys think could be causing my complete loss of energy? I've noticed this kind of coming and going the past few months for a day or so, but it hasn't lasted this long before. And it's right before that time of the month. I've never had problems with PMS before though, and I am trying a new pill that I've been on for about 4 months now. I don't know if my hormones may have something to do with it. I don't have the money to go to the doctor right now... Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

If it's any comfort to you, I had extreme fatigue for about 2 or 3 months straight earlier this year. Every single day! I passed my blood tests, passed a brain MRI, etc. Looking back, all I can guess is that I was so overwhelmed by some things that were stressing me out that my sleep patterns really started to suffer. I was waking up multiple times most nights and not able to fall back asleep. During the day, all I wanted to do was go back to bed. Even something as simple as walking up the stairs seemed like an effort (and I'm not really out of shape or anything like that). But I worried the entire time that I had a deadly disease that no one was picking up on. Eventually, I started to feel normal again, but it really did take a while. I hope that you find the same relief soon.

Many issues can cause fatigue, including lack of sleep, anxiety, the weather, your mood, etc. I would
try not to worry.

Wow! I'm am SO glad you posted this! I, too, go through almost the EXACT same things you just mentioned. I've actually been keeping a log of my menstrual cycles each month and write down my symptoms, how I feel, etc. Seems like every month, just a few days before I'm due to start, I get all these horrible symptoms - lethargy, pain, anxiety attacks, insomnia, headaches, stomach problems, gas, slight sore throat, low-grade fever. Feels like I'm coming down with something but I never do, and I feel great a couple days after I start.

Very weird! I keep thinking - because of the timing in relation to my cycle - that it's hormonal (and my mom thinks so, too), but my doctor ran a hormone profile (via blood work), and he said everything looked fine.  :fragend005:

I'm starting to think it may be related to my cycle, too. Thinking back on it, this has happened the past few months. And I just started this new pill, so maybe that's not really helping with all the symptoms I'm experiencing. I am thinking I will give it a few days to see if things get back to normal (I usually feel better after I start, too!). It's just been going on for a few days now which is kind of worrying me. It's good to hear I'm not alone though!

I'm always beat when I start working again after getting on track - your system could just be adjusting. PMS manifests as fatigue in me too... a lot of things can cause it. As can stress and anxiety itself, of course.

Yes, it's definitely good to know we're not alone! I've been researching this and, apparently, there are a lot of women who experience similar symptoms just before their cycle. Sorry, guys, I don't know what your problem is!  :laugh3:

I'm actually starting to look forward to my cycle each month - because I know right after I start those will be the best days. Crazy!
