« on: July 30, 2014, 11:34:03 AM »
Anyone here that most of your night when you are about to fall asleep you suddenly felt like falling down or what they call, hypnic jerk. This always happens to me every night when i am about to fall asleep then boom a hypnic jerk! Well thank God i can still manage to fall back asleep.

Anyone here? Please

That happens to me sometimes too. I'll be dozing off, my mind wandering then all of a sudden something pops up in my head. I'll see a scene like a soccer ball or something coming towards my face then I get scared then jerk. It comes out of the blue.

Yes...I get it all the time! I've gotten it as long as I can remember - certainly it predates my anxiety :) Totally common and nothing to worry about!

yep, hypnic jerks are a very common thing to happen.    it most often happens when one is over tired, had a very physical day or from stress/anxiety.

regarding the double post: just go to thhe extra thread, report it to moderator---click link lower right of post and follow prompts.  a mod will come and remove it.  really isn't a big deal

MOST anxiety occurs on a subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state
