Hair Loss and Freaking out a bit
« on: July 09, 2014, 01:10:14 AM »
So I was just fine. Or I felt fine, for a bit. I am really nervous right now as I have been shedding a lot of hair, to where its obvious to see my hair is thinning greatly. I have always had a thick head of hair and it seems to be worse when wet, sometimes it just comes out like 4-6 hairs when i put my hands through it, sometimes up to 20. I am worried about my thyroid, and everything else. Is this stress? I have always been told how thick my hair was and I should never worry about going bald, so this is highly alarming to me. If anyone knows anything, Id be happy to hear it. I have had a lot of stress in the past year, but I thought I was getting on a better track until this.

People normally lose on average 100-150 hairs a day. New ones grow in pushing the old ones out.

Stress can cause us to "shed" hair as well. (it also happens to cats and dogs- ever notice when you take a pet to the vet, they start to shed? Stress!)

Not sure if you're male or female, but, if you've had a physical lately - then you had bloodwork done. Thyroid is part of bloodwork.

Try not to focus on your hair if you've had bloodwork and all was good. It's most likely stress or normal daily hair loss.
