Left sided weakness/awkwardness; back to brain tumor fears
« on: July 06, 2014, 11:04:29 PM »
A classic returns.  Back to brain tumor basics for me.  My left side is once again feeling numb and uncooperative; difficulties typing, etc.  I think it's most likely pinched nerves because I've been having so much neck and hip/back pain lately, but of course my brain is going to the worst possible place.

I've also been having a ton of memory difficulty, which I'm trying to write off as medication-related, but my god it's getting hard to ignore.  Short-term and long-term memory are horrible.  I used to be so sharp.  My temper is shorter as well, and I'm all-around more unpleasant, but I guess that's probably from feeling under stress.

Mostly just making myself avoid google and waiting it out, but it's hard.

I'm right there with you Mollyfin. I've just about had it with all of my symptoms, and everything about me just wants to give up. But, giving up is too easy. Keep your chin up!

Yes try not to let your mind go to that dark place and don't google. There could be a number of reasons for these symptoms. Have you had any tests done?

No; I saw a neurologist for similar symptoms a year and a half ago (doctor referred me agreeing that he could see the symptoms I was worried about even though he didn't find them hugely worrisome it was worth checking) and was told straight-up "you have anxiety, not a brain tumor."  So I assume that's what's happening this time as well.  But logic brain and anxiety are forever at odds with each other!

Well it's been a year so I'm sure your brain is fine. Other than it over thinking. I know it's hard. My fear comes and goes too. :(

Ugh yes it is. I've seen my main doctor, my ent, and over 20 doctors online about my symptoms and my fear of a brain tumor and all of them said it wasn't.  Wish I could get that to register.  A ct scan also done. Stupid anxiety. Trying my best every day to just say screw you anxiety. If it were just that easy.

Oh man Molly do I relate, About a year ago I started getting a tingling sensation on the left side of my mouth, all around but below the cheek. That was scary, do you know what it was? A pinched nerve from a very real shoulder injury I was dealing with. It's referral pain and it sucks. I thought I was having a stroke(my fears always seem to be cardiac related) I have had persistent dizziness too, that's always fun ain't it? Hang in there Molly, you are gonna be fine!

Thanks Mike :)  I'm looking into getting a new mattress to replace my broken one and hoping that will solve some of my weird sensation/pain issues.  I'm just not sure what kind is good - too firm and I get spasms but too soft and I get low back pain...but anything's better than the giant crater I'm currently in...

Molly, I sleep on one of those sleep number beds. I have the cheapest model but it is still a pretty good bed, though it does take some time to get used to. I can adjust the firmness to the level I need it at for any particular night which is nice.
