What meds are you on for your HA? Therapy?
« on: July 06, 2014, 12:58:49 PM »
Hello all

I thought it would be interesting to see what meds others were on and who isn't on any. Also to see how your experience has been with a current med or a past med.

I am currently on 100mg of Zoloft for about 6 weeks, I really don't think Zoloft is the one for me. I have shown minor improvements, but nothing major. I am also in CBT!

I'm not taking anything. Recently took klonopin, didn't help much as a daily med but works good as an as needed. Prior to that I took cymbalta for a little over a year and I had no anxiety.
Put on 35lbs, and thought I could handle this on my own. Thinking about going on something new?! Can't decide!

not on any thing.  I took zoloft for post partum after my 6th child for about three months in 2003.

I pretty much fixed myself.  it took a while but was worth it.

MOST anxiety occurs on a subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state

I was on it for post partum anxiety.   I think that is a whole other kind of anxiety.  Post partum is definitely hormonal/chemistry driven.  I don't know if it helped or not.  I  simply took myself off of them.  There are many different types though.  talk to your psy about that.

I think meds can help some people but it isn't a magic cure.  IMO, anxiety disorders, (while there are genetic components)  are thinking disorders.   I don't think any SSRI would make a difference for me.  I tookk a different approach to getting better  ;D

Ok. Mine is called it's not all in your head. I may have to try more. I'm willing to read all of them. Let me know what it teaches you. They all might teach same things. So far mine has covered some good stuff. Haven't gotten to the self help tools yet it's just doing some explaining on things. Asking questions ect.

One interesting part is how we become very sensitive to our body's sensations and notice things we never have before. What it pointed out was a couple who just had a baby and brought it home for first night. And they use a baby monitor to hear the baby. Well they become more aware of sounds in the house that they wouldn't before.
Just like if someone on your neighborhood was to get robbed and you would super nervous and probably every sound would make you jump. I remember when I was a little one and believed in santa clause I would focus on the sounds in the house seeing if I could hear him and I would hear sounds that would think it was him. Just like our body sensations we feel Eveything and we get jumpy, anxious, tense.
