Worried about nipple discharge
« on: June 30, 2014, 11:07:59 AM »
This morning before I got in the shower I noticed a couple little spots of fluid on my pajama t shirt. I tried squeezing my breast and nipple and couldn't get any fluid out.

I'm 26 years old. No family history of any type of cancer, but I'm really worried. It seemed clear (didn't leave any stain on my shirt) and was coming from only my right breast, which is also concerning me. Has anyone ever had this?

I get this a lot.  I actually went through a "breast cancer scare"...had a mammo and ultrasound and everything.  When the doctor squeezed, clear fluid came out.  Of course I freaked.  But he said that more than likely it was hormonal.  Since I was also having pain and a swollen node in the under the arm..(total freak out)!!  He did the testing.  Everything was fine.   It was hormonal... :)

Was it only one breast? Or was it both? Mine is only the right one, which is what scares me.

You would think if it were hormonal it would be both breasts? Was it clear?

Do you have children? It is not at all uncommon to be able to express fluid even years after pregnancy.

I have a friend who had mastitis last year. Her youngest child is 6!

Ok I actually was able to squeeze a little out just now and held it under a light and it did actually look a little yellowish. Trying not to freak out :-( but I'm really worried now. I'm in vacation for another five weeks!!

I've had a cloudy discharge from just my left breastfeeding and it turned out to be nothing.   My mom had breastfeeding cancer at my age so it really freaked me out.  But, it turned out to be hormonal.

Try to relax and enjoy your vacation.

I'm so scared now. I'm vacationing at my parents house, and if I leave they're going to think I'm crazy. But I'm so worried!

Please try not to worry.  Enjoy this time with your family.

This is something many women get due to hormones.

Everything will be alright.   Go do something to distract your mind.

Hi! I'm 23 and this happened to me last year in just my right breast. I was terrified that I had breast cancer and even went to a breast specialist! She examined me and told me that sometimes, it can happen and that it is nothing to worry about. I also had a tendency to squeeze my nipples because I was worried about discharge. But here I am over a year later and no breast cancer! You'll be fine my dear

Alright I called my doctors office. My actual doctor called me back and said that he thinks it's probably related to my fibrocystic breast disease. He said if it were hormonal it would be out of both breasts. Told me to stop squeezing it because it can become damaged that way. I asked him if I should get it checked out here in Detroit. He said if I need the reassurance then I can, otherwise make an appointment for when I get home and he'll see me then. So idk what to do now. He said he really doesn't think it's anything malignant at all. Before I got his phone call I squeezed my nipple again this morning and couldn't get anything out. So now idk what to do.

Relax-you talked to the doc-and you can enjoy your family/vacation.  When you get home you'll be checked-done -let it go.
