One Sentence...
« on: June 23, 2014, 10:30:24 AM »
Good Monday morning, all you wonderful members of Anxiety Zone!

I just received an e-mail of a "daily quote" that I subscribe to.  In just one sentence, I think it describes one of the main components of what we must do to work through our anxiety disorders.  Here is the quote:

“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.”

Abraham Maslow

As always, the very best to all of you!...  Chuck :grinning-smiley-003:

I love this topic Chuck!  Can I add one sentence?  Here's one:

Okay, here are a couple sentences I wrote to encourage me:

"Do I hold out hope of recovering from GAD? I do. And when I figure it out, I will write out a map of my path through the forest, so that I never forget how I found my way back to myself.  I'll tell anyone who will listen."

"We know a lot about what our anxiety looks like.  But it's more important to envision vividly what our recovery looks like.  Because our happy, recovered self is what is true. The other stuff -- those are the delusions."   :action-smiley-065: ::) :P

Chuck, thanks for starting this thread.  It's great to hear the positive statements we share with ourselves for inspiration, the multitude of
affirmations.  Sometimes we focus so much on the downside of negativity on the site.  But what many of us are seeking is to be lifted, to have
our hope restored, reignited.  :)

This thread helps move us in that direction.  Every day I want to move closer and closer toward recovery.  I wish that for all of us.

Good Positive Stuff

Here is one quote , that I always have handy, when I am not having a good day:

Every human has four endowments (gifted by our creator):
1) Self Awareness,
2) Conscience,
3) Independent Will
4) Creative Imagination.

These give us the ultimate human freedom... The power to choose, to respond, to change.

- Stephen Covey (Oct 24, 1932 – July 16, 2012) author of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

This isn't an anxiety related one strictly, but ever since I've seen it it's held a lot of weight with me:

"Life isn’t about getting and having, it’s about giving and being." – Kevin Kruse

Edit: My friend just reminded me of this one, which I think we should all take notice of:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore, Dream, Discover." – Mark Twain
