You definitely don't have to worry about throat cancer at that age. Being female and a nondrinker also work strongly in your favor. If you smoke heavily for another 33 years you may be in some trouble, but as you are now, you're fine.
If it's one-sided it could be a canker sore, an infected sinus, an infected tonsil, or any number of things. It's very, very unlikely to be cancer.
For the record, though, my dad (a male, heavy smoker/drinker for decades, in his 60s at time of diagnosis) had throat cancer. You're not describing anything resembling his symptoms.
