For me I have to take medication to be able to sleep and at times of high anxiety sometimes that isn't even enough. But you don't want to take sleep meds if something else like a relaxation meditation works. Also make sure you're really tired when you go to bed. If you go to bed and can't sleep instead of tossing and turning, get up and do something soothing until you feel sleepy. If possible try to avoid naps during the day. Although I do admit when I'm sleep deprived sometimes I feel like I just have to take a nap in the afternoon.
