I would disagree with this statement, though, as would many other doctors (I am not a doctor). The correct phrase should be that acute anxiety is not directly dangerous. It can be indirectly harmful in that you could do something dangerous as a result (weak shaky legs could make you fall, or you could get vertigo and stumble and get hurt, etc.) Also, chronic anxiety over many years may have long-term health effects. But nobody has ever died from an anxiety attack or a panic attack! So just remind yourself that no matter how bad it feels, your anxiety isn't directly dangerous and you will get through it and be fine.
