cancer? or is this normal
« on: June 18, 2014, 07:58:49 PM »
So for the past few months I have been feeling a pressure in my bottom right rib cage area. If I lean forward or crunch I feel this odd tingly pressure and am convinced it is a tumor pressing against my ribcage as I can see no other explanation. It has made me worried and my doctor said I am fine because my chest xray 6 months ago would have seen a tumor. I have my doubt's simply because it was 6 months ago and the symptoms started two months ago.

Tumors are present for a long time before they start causing symptoms.  They don't just sprout up enormous overnight (though benign cysts can and do just pop up like that.)

I don't believe it is a tumor.  However, I would check with your doctor... it might be gall stones or just your gall bladder... which is far more common than a tumor.  I had a cousin had the same pain and that's what it was... had her gallbladder removed and is fine..

Sounds muscular related as gallbladder pain is usually related to eating as per my GI physician.

Good point.  If it isn't eating related, it probably is muscular.

Also, I am only 18 and quite active. I workout daily. What are my chances of getting cancer at my age?  This chest pain cannot be costochondritis because it occurs in the bottom right area. Are my concern warranted? Or would you chalk it up as anxiety?

One of the symptoms of anxiety is ribcage tightness. Could it be that?
