Re: Transitioning from Buspar to Klonopin

Saw my new psych today.  We agreed I should taper off buspar. and try out Klonopin.
Day 1 begins tomorrow with half a pill of .5 mg Klonopin.  I'm intrigued to see how this goes.
I tried Klon 5 years ago during a very stressful job.

Now I'm deal with a regular job but more GAD-created stress.  So I hope I respond even better
to Vitamin K.  When I took it last time, I did not have any addiction issues.  And two of my friends
have happily been on Klon for some years.

I've also learned the importance to reclaiming my sense of humor.  I went through the day today
looking for humor and lightness in all situations.  And just searching for the humor made me smile
and feel better.  Anyway, I'll let people know how I do on Klon.  I hope I'm one of those that
responds well and that can take it over a long period of time.  (The other med my doc suggested
was gabapentin.)

Today, Sunday, I took 1 mg Klonopin.  Instead of just mellowing me, it made me tired.

But yesterday, I'd take .5 mg in am and .5 in pm.  That seemed to lead to a new relaxation in the evening.

So tomorrow, I'm going to tak .5 mg pill in morn.  And .5 mg pill in pm.  That seems to be a better flow for me.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

I had the same experience, with Klonopin,  you are doing a great job listening to your own body's response to each medication.  If I remember, with Klonopin I ended up using the higher dose at p.m. to allow me to sleep, and it lasted long enough to keep Relaxed, and anxiety free.

Keep up the good work  :action-smiley-065:

Tolerance to the sedation usually develops very quickly, usually within a couple of weeks.

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.
