DO I HAVE A BRAIN TUMOR?? HELP!
« on: June 14, 2014, 03:22:22 PM »
Hi guys,
Two summers ago, I began to have headaches on the top left side of my head. That summer I went to two doctors, one being a neurologist and my pediatrician, but they said I was fine and didn't have a tumor. Then my school year started and my headaches went away but that spot was still a bit tender. The following summer my headaches began again, I didn't go to a doctor again, but I was freaking out about a brain tumor and then the school year started and my headaches went away but again, there was still a bit of tenderness. Now my summer has started again, and here I am with those localized headaches on the top left side of my head. I have a history of being a hypochondriac for a long time but I am seriously afraid I have a brain tumor! I am a 15 year old male. PLEASE HELP!

no you don't have a brain tumor......

I know because

1. brain tumors don't give symptoms based on times of the year.
2.  brain tumors don't leave the scalp tender.
3. I've seen how brain tumors and other neurological illnesses behave firsthand and secondhand.  What you are describing is NOTHING like a tumor.

I am a mom to 6 kids, four of whom are teenagers.  As a mom I strongly urge you to sit down and talk to your parents about these unfounded fears.  Ask your parents to get you set up with a therapist to deal with this anxiety disorder.  the last thing you want to do is waste your high school/college and young adult years worrying yourself to death.

MOST anxiety occurs on a subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state

So you guys for sure 100% don't think I have a brain tumor? I just can't seem to explain the tenderness in my head, and it feels like there is a tumor in that part of the head where I get the headaches. Like I feel like there is some sort of pressure. But then again this has happened to me for the third summer in a row, so I don't know. Interestingly when I play sports I don't have the pain...

Brain Tumors usually don't cause tenderness and you can't feel them. So I'm pretty certain that it's not a brain tumor. Another sign that it's not is that it goes away when you exercise.

Yeah it's not reaally tenderness, it's more sensitivity in that spot, like it bothers me if someone touches it, it can trigger the headaches or something. I mean it's been like this for three years only during the school year I don't feel the headaches. I'm just really scared it's  brain tumor, and this fear ruins my summer.

No brain tumor headaches usually don't happen this way at all.
Tingling in the face is usually a stress indicator. If you are concerned, wouldn't hurt to see a doctor. Try not to worry too much. I'm sure you are ok.  :)

nope, not a brain tumor.

tingling on your face is due to your anxious over thinking.

again, as mentioned in  my op to you,  have a sit down with your parents and tell them about your health anxiety.  you don't to waste all of your young years with worry.  the sooner you start dealing with the actual issue you have, the happier you will be.

bottom line the more you obsess about having a brain tumor "the more symptoms" you will get.  GUARANTEED!  It is a product of anxiety.
