Opthamologist visit yesterday
« on: June 10, 2014, 12:36:30 PM »
I went in for a routine eye checkup yesterday and all was going good. The woman tested my eye pressure, etc.
Then my physician came in who I have been seeing for 26 years and examined me and sat down at his computer
inputting data. Next thing you know he says, this can't be right, neoplasm. I felt myself suddenly sinking into the
comfortable exam chair and a sudden feeling of derealization set in. I felt numb. Then he said, there is nothing wrong, I just
put in the wrong code. What a relief. Just shows you never know when your number could be up.

The more I think about it, maybe I did not think my number would necessarily be up, but
if it was something, would I be able to handle it mentally and physically. Hopefully, I will
not ever have to find out.

Marc, I know what you mean.  While I was sitting in the neurologist's waiting room yesterday preparing myself for a consultation on all the testing the doctor had done, I sat thinking, 'what will she say to me"?  I hadn't a clue, but I can tell you I was incredibly nervous.  I thought I was going to have a freak out right in the waiting room, but, of course I didn't.

Know that feeling. it's awful. I've had it both with docs and totally on my own ... I (foolishly) google something, and then get that sinking feeling as I connect everything to myself.

But actually, rather than showing your number could be up at any time, I think it shows how easily HA folks jump to conclusions without all the information. Even when we think we have plenty.
