Brain Eating Amoeba paranoia driving me crazy!
« on: June 08, 2014, 10:31:44 AM »
Well, a year or two ago, I stumbled upon naegleria fowleri (Please do not google it) and since then, I have developed a fear for it. Everytime a water droplet goes into my nose (everyday), I start to count down the days as I feel the mock symptoms like headahes. Soon, I start to have another panic attack. Usually the headache would be caused by playing too much on the com or sleeping late but still, it drives me insane. Please help.

Hey YummySoup!

I've had this fear two times in the past month. I wouldn't wish the fear & anxiety I have gone through on my worst enemy!

Yes, it's very scary to think something like this could happen, but the odds are so very little that it's silly to even think about.

I too counted down the days and began to have symptoms due to my anxiety tricking me. But hey, I'm still here feeling completely normal!

As hard as it may be, just try to quit worrying and enjoy life. If you can do that, the false 'days of doom' will fly on by!  :action-smiley-065:

Good to see you're getting over your fear, fallout.

Soup, contracting this is a non-issue. Any symptoms you do experience are anxiety-based. I don't care if you have every single symptom listed on the wikipedia page; there is still a 99.999999999999% likelihood that it is all anxiety. You must be aware of how rare occurrence is.
