Squeezing pain under chin
« on: June 04, 2014, 08:59:04 PM »
The last day or so I've had this disconcerting feeling of a squeezing pain under my chin, specifically right under it, just past the bony jaw like where the soft tissue of where my tongue is. I googled last night to awful results and I don't know how to make myself feel better. It happens at random intervals, no specific triggers or anything.

Has anyone had this before?

I wonder if it could be related to TMJ.  I don't know that symptom specifically but I know that's a common occurrence in anxiety sufferers.

I wondered about that too. I made an appointment with my doctor today, hopefully he can explain it to me.

This sounds similar to the sore, swollen feeling I get high in my throat/under my tongue. I know that anxiety sets this off. Sometimes it feels like it is going to prevent me from eating or drinking or even breathing, although it always goes away once I get my anxiety under control. I imagine you probably have a lot of tension in your neck, jaws, and chest from all that coughing, and that's probably contributing to this.
